Glossary
(a "clavis" if your being all linguistic like)
allegretto con moto:
Allegretto means "Moderately Fast" slower than allegro but faster than andante...con moto means "with movement" so "Moderately fast with movement". I use it as brisk, energetic movement
Beethoven: Ludwig van 1770–1827. A way cool German composer.
Big government: code name for Washington, D.C.
Capital of the United States of America - or a giant money sucking vacuum cleaner - or any government that work better if replaced by a smaller government - or the thing our forefathers saw as a burden to mankind - or the system man loves to build - or what man replaced God with.
Hillbilly: if you're a Democrat- it is a white Christian southerner - who owns a gun. If you're a Republican it is someone you make fun of but want their vote.
Homophone: a character or group of characters pronounced the same as another character or group.
[“To,” “too,” and “two” are homophones]
Ignorant: lacking knowledge or information - NOT STUPID
Punk: The 16 year old that cut you off in traffic.
Theoretical Man: From Nietzsche’s Birth of Tragedy.
In short, Nietzsche believed that man should not take "accepted" truth blindly. Ideas are to be rationalized and studied before reaching a conclusion.
Actually, this is a Biblical concept.
Acts 17:11
These (Bereans) were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.
Here the passage from Birth of Tragedy -
“The theoretical man, like the artist, takes an infinite satisfaction in the present and is, like the artist, protected by that satisfaction from the practical effects of pessimism with its lynx eyes which glow only in the darkness. But while the artist, in his revelation of the truth, always keeps his enchanted gaze hanging on what still remains hidden after his revelation, theoretical man enjoys and remains satisfied with the covers which have been thrown off and takes his greatest delight in the process of continually successful unveiling, a success which his own power has brought about.”
